A growing sense of separateness has been the content of my recent sculptures.  Rather than merely representing the ills of fragmented society, I would like to do something that brings people together.  Through the process of building a bridge with discarded chairs, I wish to attract diverse groups of people who may learn about each other as we engage to create this group project.

For this project I have partnered with Ashlee Wiest-Laird, pastor of The First Baptist Church of Jamaica Plain.  When considering the project, Ashlee remarked, “In the midst of such a divisive time in our world this is the kind of art our society needs — displays of cooperation and building across our differences.”

We are collecting the chairs that will be used to construct an arch bridge on the front lawn of The First Baptist Church, in Jamaica Plain.  If you have a chair/chairs that are no longer of use, please consider donating them to this public art project.
